MEMBERS1st Community Credit Union is proud to announce that Ames resident Abbey Sprague has joined the company as marketing director. “For more than a decade, I've worked in marketing and communications in the electric cooperative industry. I know first-hand the difference it can make when a company serves people as members rather than just as customers. I'm thrilled to be part of the amazing team of people at MEMBERS1st and proud to be part of what they're doing to serve Iowans,” said Sprague. “I’m a big proponent of the cooperative business model and really excited by the opportunity to promote the benefits of credit union membership.” The marketing director position is a newly created position at MEMBERS1st Community Credit Union. “We’ve had wonderful internal and external team members fulfilling components of our marketing needs for years. However, our leadership team is thrilled to have a full-time, internal employee dedicated to the planning and fulfillment of MEMBERS1st’s strategic marketing objectives,” said MEMBERS1st’s CEO Janet Borer. In addition to more than 12 years’ experience in the electric cooperative industry, Sprague is a graduate of Des Moines Area Community College’s Commercial Art/Graphic Design program, has experience in national marketing and promotions of home care products, as well as experience from central Iowa’s newspaper industry. “Central Iowa is my home, and MEMBERS1st is my local credit union. I can’t imagine a better place to promote the cooperative advantages and serve credit union members. We’re going to be doing some exciting things together and I can’t wait to get started,” said Sprague. MEMBERS1st Community Credit Union is an Iowa-based not-for-profit financial cooperative, owned and operated by its members. As a financial cooperative, there are no stockholders - the board is comprised of volunteer members who use the credit union's financial services and represent the entire membership. MEMBERS1st branches are located in Ames, Boone, Iowa Falls, Eldora, Marshalltown and Traer.
