Event Description: Sponsored by PSA, Ames, and VanWall Energy You are invited to attend an open house to learn more about Solar Energy and the potential savings your business may see in a short time period with solar power. Come and see the solar array up close and ask lots of questions with the folks from VanWall Energy. Donuts and coffee to be provided. Property Service Agency has invested in Solar Energy to power 100% of their electric needs for the next 30 years. PSA may be the first business in the Ames area that is net zero, meaning the total amount of the energy used by the business on an annual basis is roughly equal to the amount of renewable energy created on site. PSA has invested in a 33kW Solar PV array and hired VanWall Energy to install the Solar system. They have effectively lowered their cost of electricity from 13.5 cents/kWh to around 2-3 cents/kWh for the next 30 years. Property Service Agency began as a sole proprietorship by Norm Marty in the early 1980s. Norm saw a need for a building and grounds maintenance service in Ames and relied on quality work and "word of mouth" by satisfied customers to do his advertising. Norm's carpentry skills, knowledge of building maintenance, and attention to detail grew his business which he expanded to include property management. The company did a large expansion in 2000 when sons Chad & Chris and son-in-law Matt joined with the company. Each brought additional skills, new ideas, and their own expertise to the company and manage their own areas and personnel for the company.
