AMES, IA – The Mary Greeley Medical Center Foundation recently held its annual celebration and presented Greeley Awards to Pam and Dan Sargent and Variety-the Children’s Charity. The Greeley Awards celebrate those who demonstrate a commitment to philanthropy, and whose contributions and leadership are invaluable to Mary Greeley Medical Center through support of the Mary Greeley Foundation. “We are extremely grateful to the Sargents and Variety-the Children’s Charity, and all of our donors and volunteers who invest in our mission,” said Melissa McGarry, Executive Director of the Mary Greeley Foundation. “In this changing healthcare environment, we deeply appreciate their leadership and inspirational commitment.” Pam and Dan Sargent have been involved with Mary Greeley for nearly 30 years as valued volunteers and generous supporters of the William R. Bliss Cancer Center, mental health services, Birthways, the new Mary Greeley Healing Garden and more. They lead by example, going above and beyond to champion a cause they believe in. To date, they have made the single largest gift to mental health services at Mary Greeley. Variety-the Children’s Charity (Variety) was recognized for their long-time partnership and support of the tiniest patients we care for at Mary Greeley. Through their grant program, Variety has provided HALO SleepSack blankets for newborns to help prevent Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, fetal monitors to alert staff of mothers and babies in crisis, Panda Warmers for the new Mary Greeley Birthways suites and Emergency Department, GE Giraffe Incubator Carestations, and other medical equipment that improves the care of newborns and children. The Mary Greeley Medical Center Foundation supports the mission of Mary Greeley Medical Center through philanthropy and engagement.
