Creative Counseling Services

In 2008 Kristten Buttermore started Creative Counseling to give residents of Story County another option for mental health therapy and substance abuse treatment. “I wanted to start an agency where professionals who are passionate about their work are able to focus on providing quality individualized services”. To date, Creative Counseling Services has served over 2000 individuals and families.

Creative Counseling is a not for profit agency, and is dedicated to serving the needs of Ames and Story County, IA. We provide in office and Telehealth mental health therapy. We are proud to accept Medicaid insurance. Our agency is governed by our Board of Directors and relies on the generous donations of our community members.

We are located in downtown Ames. This location is on the bus line and is close to the public library and post office.
